It's been a couple months now since DD (just turned 10 the other day!) moved from 4th to 5th. What a difference a grade makes!! As one mom said to me "DD just walks happier!" DD even expressed that she likes her old 4th grade teacher - DD said that the old teacher was a nice person but didn't know how to teach! Wise little girl. DD continues to do well in the 5th grade AG math and LA classes and will be in a compacted math class (2 1/2 years math in one year) and advanced English class next year in middle school. So, even with the 1 year skip she is at the top of her class. She has found one good friend as well. I think the SSA math class helped her introduction into full fledged 5th grade as most of the students were used to having her around. We keep our fingers crossed that this year will continue to go well. We take it day to day! Added bonus - her big sis is also in 5th so they can help each other with homework if need be.

I am glad to hear this - my DD was walking on clouds too if not pure sunshine for a while when she skipped grades :-)
