Homeschool Buyer's Co-op is offering a one week sale on Youth Digital's Mod Design 1: Learn JAVA with Minecraft course. It's currently offered at 30% off, and the sale just started today. It can reach 40% off if enough people purchase through this group buy offer which runs through December 1. Joining the Homeschool Buyer's Co-op is free. This course received a positive review here.

If you mean my positive review of the online Minecraft mods class my DD just finished, it is *not* the same class.

It is not the same class, but I will testify that DD10 is really enjoying the YouthDigital one.

My apologies AlexsMom; that's what I get for hastily trying to post before rushing DD off to Nutcracker rehearsal. I had thought the review was here, but I realize the review for the Youth Digital course I was thinking of was probably on another forum, perhaps The Well-Trained Mind.

I must confess my ignorance here. That's why I'm buying the course for DD. She wants to learn some coding for Minecraft, and I have no idea what can be done or how to do it. I thought this would be a good introduction for her.

I do know the course is broken into twelve modules, but I don't know what they learn to create in each:
    A Whole New Sword
    Your Pick
    Brand New Items
    Ore Galore
    Suit Up
    A Biome by You
    Custom Creature
    Way More Instances
    New Friends
    Enter the Interface
    Package It Up

You can modify all sorts of things, but the course starts with basics (creating items, creating blocks, creating a creature, etc.). We really liked the course but it is a starting point. So my daughter would always want to do more than they showed, but then we worked together to figure it out. It would be possible to do the course and learn very little about coding, but a motivated child can learn a huge amount if they make the effort to understand what is presented (not just to copy and paste) and then to go beyond it.
