Ben Leis, I appreciate your motivation and the way you used the small window of time every day to accelerate your child in math. Great job.

I work with my child for 25 minutes after school in math in a similar manner (in my car in the parking lot before the start of an extra curricular activity) and we have made a lot of progress by having my son dictate the answers to me with me doing the scribing - we sometimes cover a chapter in one sitting in this manner.

This thread inspires me to not waste any time with my son. Every small opportunity to do something together can clearly create special memories and/or build skills, even if it's as simple as a few minutes of activity. I have happy memories of spelling challenging words with my dad as we read the newspaper together over breakfast before school. smile

    Way to go Ben leis!

BenjaminL thanks for your post. I do something similar with daughter, age 10. She goes to regular school but we work on math 10-20 minutes in the morning starting about a year ago. It doesn't seem like a lot but she has gone far in that time. Based on your post, we just started reading the AOPS pre-algebra book and she likes it a lot. I wondered if you could catch us up on what he & you have worked on in math in the last 4 years? Thanks.
