Has anyone tried the App Design class from Youth Digital? I know several of you have kids who have done their Minecraft Mod class, generally with positive reviews. DS8 is an avid game creator, and I think he might get more out of an app design class than the mod class (especially since his interest in Minecraft is waning).
DS is pretty good at Scratch, and can make simple platform and maze games. He already understands many basic programming concepts (if-then statements, loops, variables). I get the sense that the Youth Digital classes assume you know nothing about programming at first, but I am wondering how quickly they ramp up.
