Your son is ADORABLE...These are memories to hold dearly. He reminds me so much of my own son at that age; wanted me to read him words, everywhere he saw them.

We bought the board game Periodic Quest that's going around the internet. The kids like it. We're playing on the easy level which is you roll the dice and move your pawn up one column of the periodic table, then go to the bottom of the next column and go up again. It's a race to the end. The harder levels include cards in the board game. You earn cards if you remember factoids as you race through the table.

This is a magnetic model of an atom that can be manipulated to represent different elements. I've seen people make their own out of felt, because it's expensive and only goes up to neon.

ElizabethN, so ADORABLE! The funniest part is how he is like a much older kid in his knowledge but still sucks his thumb in between ever chance he gets. My DD does this too and it cracks me up!

There is also a board game called Elementeo and a recent release called Compounded that may be good. (Compounded may be too difficult; I haven't played it, so I can't say.)

Seconding this. Hours and hours of play at my house. If you can find a chem major as a babysitter, you are ALL SET.
