I am looking into enrolling my DD into the K-1 EPGY Math, and would prefer to do it via open enrollment. I'm not sure the best way to go about finding a group, since it seems I can not sign up on my own. Any suggestions?

DS7 is doing EPGY open enrollment through MENSA. Although a MENSA membership costs $100 per year, we thought the additional cost of the MENSA membership was well worth the security of knowing its open enrollment group should remain active for years to come.

It took about two weeks to get the acceptance from MENSA and then we were able to set up the EPGY open enrollment within a day. So it was a very simple process.

We had been paying $495 every 3 months just for EPGY math through individual enrollment. So getting access to both EPGY math and language arts for about $235 a year ($100 for MENSA and $135 per 10 months EPGY enrollment) is a bargain to us! You don't get tutor support with open enrollment, but we didn't use the tutor support anyway -- all it gave us was an email from the tutor once a week saying DS was doing fine.

It now appears you can sign up for EPGY Open Enrollment on your own...

I emailed EPGY yesterday about the Open Enrollment Program because it looked like they made some changes to the online enrollment page, now allowing anyone to create a group with no minimum number of students. I just got an email back confirming there is no longer a minimum number of students required for Open Enrollment, so anyone can start a 'group', even for his or her own child. Here is the exact wording I received from EPGY:

"Yes, we recently changed our policy removing the minimum number of members requirement for starting an Open Enrollment group. Anyone can start a group just for their own child or children, if they want."

Hopefully this will make the program more accessible to people.

That's a wonderful change for HSers and after schoolers!
