Anyone knows if there are good sites for practicing/learning grammar/language arts and reading for grade 4, 5 and up lile Aleks in Math or Khan academy. Something that scores the work.

EPGY's open enrollment language arts curriculum might work for you. Check out their website and ask around. We haven't made much use of it, and not at all at those grades, so I can't really comment.

There is a group forming up on this forum right now if you are interested; an open enrollment group makes it much less expensive, and there are no qualifying exams.

Hi Ijoy, would you be able to tell me more about the group you are talking about, the fees and the procedure and what is done - I have no clue!

    Thanks

There are two ways to get EPGY: individual enrollment and an open enrollment group. Individual enrollment gives access to a wide range of gifted classes, requires qualifying test scores, and is expensive. Open enrollment is about $135/10 months and gives access to non-gifted, but adaptive, K-7 math, algebra, and language arts for grades 3-6. We sampled the language arts curriculum and it teaches parts of speech, paragraph construction, comprehension, etc., but in a fairly limited way since it is a computer program.

We have open enrollment through our school district, but sfmom is setting up a group from this forum this week. Contact her for the details.

Please email me at julie@choey.com asap if you're interested!

    2) Zip code
    3) Email
    4) # of EPGY students (in your family)

    Thanks!

My daughter has been using this education site beestar. Maybe it can help you. It's for g1 to g8 and combines all the syllabus from all over... I think it is nice and easy to use.
