We finally have the appointment with the neuropsych to talk about DD8's test results this afternoon. We made the testing appointments in February, and she tested in July. There was a snafu and the followup appointment to talk to us didn't get scheduled right then, and then the NP was out of town and my husband was out of town and ... here we are. At least it will happen.

All I know is that when DH took her to the achievement testing, the NP commented at pickup that DD8 had gotten into some high school material.

I'll post again when I know - just hoping for some soothing vibes before the appointment.

Soothing vibes sent your way. Remember that the testing doesn't change the child that you have known and loved for years. It just gives you better information to try and get her what she needs.

I can't believe how long you've had to wait for the follow-up visit - I'm glad you're finally able to see the neuropsych, and I hope having the visit will help give you useful info, and that this school year will be a good one for your dd.

Well, we'll get the full report next week, but it will have a diagnosis of dysgraphia and suggested accommodations. I also expect that we'll be using it for a DYS application. Here's the scores:

Still processing everything from the meeting, but it's nice to have a diagnosis and some semblance of a plan.

ETA: I asked about extended norms, and she said she would go back and calculate them. She said that she had never done that before, but clearly knew what they were and was planning to go look up how to do it. She said that they would likely be higher, especially since DD got all the way to the end of the test on many subtests.

I'm going to call the school on Monday (which is supposed to be the first day that they are accessible by phone), and set up a meeting with the school counselor to discuss next steps. Any BTDT advice?

The only thing I can say is that it is often the case that LD IEP's focus on accommodating deficits. I'd also push for accommodations for his strengths. Good luck with the call and getting things rolling!
