This is a bit trivial but does anyone else have a child loves to draw mazes? DS is 6 and is obsessed. He does this during recess, free time, and at home. It is his latest craze. He used to love doing mazes when he was younger but now he is drawing them! They are quite intricate. THe amazing thing is that he hates to write and could care less about his drawing (in fact it looks like chicken scratch).
I'm not sure what this skill will ever translate to. Anyone else btdt? Thanks.

There was a point when I enjoyed doing the same thing as a young kid, and I also started adding refinements: over-under paths, teleportation, etc.

My youngest loves mazes, too. And games like Rush Hour / Unblock Me. He is a very math-y kid and hates to write, not much interest in reading. He is very literal, so anything that takes the eensiest bit of creativity becomes a huge deal for him -- even things as basic as acrostic poems. But he would do mazes and math games all day long.

When my ds was 6, he started the maze craze. He has a notebook filled with mazes that he created. They are very intricate and he always had themed mazes. He liked to do mazes in books, but seemed to prefer creating his own. This lasted for about two years. He still draws them occasionally, but nothing like he did at that age.

Dd was obsessed with mazes but more at the 3-4 year level. She will still do them when given a chance, but I used to get those books of mazes, when she was little.
