I thought others might get something out of this article--I sure did! It's an examination of the theory and practice informing work like that being done by Carol Dweck, with some real-life examples.

The only difference between the control group and the test group were two lessons, a total of 50 minutes spent teaching not math but a single idea: that the brain is a muscle. Giving it a harder workout makes you smarter. That alone improved their math scores.

Thanks for the post. I have not read that page before. I thought by the title of the thread it was going to be an Alfie Kohn article. This one was better, IMO.

I've been meaning to read nurtureshock, maybe I'll download it tonight. Has anyone read it?
