Re: would getting a gifted degree be a shortcut? by Breakaway4 @ 11/17/09 01:18 PM

Hi Steph, I have a BS in Psych and am finishing up my M.Ed. right now. You are right. Gifted education is barely a blip on the radar in my classes. Which translates into most teachers have little or no knowledge on educating gifted children.

Welcome Tofu! Reading your post I have to ask about your older child. You mentioned some problems that led to homeschooling and I have to wonder if the problems are tied to him being gifted as well. It isn't absolute but there is evidence suggestin

Re: Percentile for SB(5) by Dottie @ 11/17/09 11:26 AM

For the SB-5, I've gathered data one test result at a time. My tables are incomplete, but I do have a good skeleton amount of info. Luckily, the 128 data point was on my list. This data is typically only found within the "top secret" sco

This thread has been very helpful to me as well. Listening to everyone who's been there already is nice. I have been wondering what school would bring for my DD6 since she was three. I can relate to your wanting testing at an early age. I've se

BWBShari- How much time does he use doing his homeschooling? If he can get thru his school work so fast that might present an opportunity to do something else like hiking or skiing or big projects/hobbies. I see you have lots of kids which takes lot

The Leonids are a lot of fun. The best way to take them in is in a very dark location outside of the city from 4am to 6am. Rather than stay up, go to bed and get up early!!! The 1966 Leonids are the stuff of legend. In the early 80s I met a guy

Re: Levels of giftedness correlation by Dottie @ 11/16/09 09:13 AM

The SET cuts are considerably higher than the DYS cuts. So....we would expect a smaller percentage within the SET population. However, many familiesthat aren't interested in DYS, find themselves in SET. The numbers for DYS should be higher, but t

I think she should be prepared in this way. Tell her they will ask her questions and she is not expected to know all the answers and some things might even seem silly. She should just do her best. I would be very relaxed about it and say she did a go
